A CASE OF ACCESSORY OVARY

William P. Dillon, MD and Maurice Dewey, MD

From the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, Buffalo, New York

Abstract

Although accessory ovary is reported more frequently than supernumerary ovary, it is still 1 of the rarest gynecologic abnormalities. A case of accessory ovary found at laparotomy for ectopic pregnancy is presented. The accessory ovary was unusually large compared to those in previously reported cases. The fine distinction between supernumerary ovary and accessory ovary is discussed.
