A Technic for the Detection of Rupture of the Membranes

A Review and Preliminary Report

ROGER P. SMITH, MD

From the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Medical School-McGaw Medical Center and The Prentice Women's Hospital and Maternity Center, Chicago, Illinois

Abstract

Correct diagnosis of rupture of the fetal membranes is sometimes difficult. A new technic is proposed to confirm the diagnosis of rupture of the membranes based on the introduction of sodium fluorescein into the amniotic cavity via transabdominal amniocentesis.
