Abstract

Forty-one patients treated for repeated abortions are presented. All suffered from intrauterine adhesions (IUA) diagnosed by hysterosalpingography. After treatment of IUA by curettage and introduction of an intrauterine device (IUD), the reproductive performance of these patients was significantly improved. Sixteen women conceived and had a total of 20 pregnancies. Before treatment, 48 of 57 pregnancies in this group resulted in abortion and only 9 terminated in a live birth. After therapy, 14 among 20 pregnancies terminated in live births, and only 6 resulted in abortion.
