INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION A Complication of Induced Abortion by "Salting Out"

From the Departments of Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology at College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School and the Harrison S. Martland Hospital, Newark, New Jersey.

A case of mechanical intestinal obstruction due to transabdominal hypertonic saline injection fur induction of abortion is described. The complication was a result of erroneous injection of saline solution into an ovarian cyst that was mistaken for a gravid uterus.
