RICK KAMM, MD and LESTER T. HIBBARD, MD, FACOG

From the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Los Angeles County–University of Southern California Medical Center and the University of Southern California School of Medicine, Los Angeles, California.

Abstract

A patient exhibiting progressive deterioration over a 22-day period, despite appropriate antibiotic therapy and drainage of pelvic and abdominal abscesses, responded rapidly following the initiation of intravenous hyperalimentation.
