Uterine Artery Ligation for Control of Postcesarean Section Hemorrhage

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn, New York, and Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, Illinois.

Ligation of the ascending branch of the uterine artery is a satisfactory technic for the control of posicesarean section hemorrhage when standard technics fail. The technic is simple and may be performed rapidly. Complications are minimal. Ninety cases are reported, 24 of which were elective. Only 6 failures were encountered.
