Many obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States are completely unaware of Dr. James Platt White's important contributions to the teaching and practice of their specialty. The aim of this article is to disclose new information obtained from the Minute Book of the Medical Faculty (1846–1878), a medical student's diary (1848–1849), old newspapers, and Dr. White's personal library.
