Detection and Significance of Maternal Pulmonary Amniotic Fluid Embolism

The presence of amniotic fluid in the lungs can be correlated with specific clinical situations and events. Amniotic fluid in the lungs is always a pathologic finding and can easily be demonstrated on a single random lung section if special stains are used.
