Three cases are reported of young women with vaginal adenosis whose mothers had diethylstilbestrol treatment during pregnancy. Two patients had dysplastic vaginal adenosis, one with clear cell adenocarcinoma. The developmental stages of this carcinoma are discussed with reference to the treatment of precursor lesions. After exclusion of invasion by biopsies, he areas of vaginal adenosis should be destroyed by surgery, hot cautery, or cryotherapy. Radical surgical excision is advised for clear cell vaginal adenocarcinoma.
