Abstract
Postabortal uterine atony is an unusual condition encountered after suction evacuation of the pregnant uterus during the first trimester. The condition develops shortly after operation and consists of progressive abdominal cramping pain which is aggravated by attempts to examine the uterus that is larger than before surgery. The most effective treatment for this form of post par turn hemorchage is reevacuation of the uterus and oxytocic therapy.
