Vulvoplasty in Cases of Exstrophy of the Bladder

JOHN C. WEED, MD, FACOG and DUNCAN M. MCKEE, MD

From the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Plastic Surgery, Ochsner Clinic and Ochsner Foundation Hospital, New Orleans. Louisiana

Abstract

Two patients who had ileal conduits following cystectomy for congenital exstrophy of the bladder have had their external genitalia restored to a relatively normal appearance through Z-plasty, transplantation of the vaginal introitus posteriorly, and augmentation of the levator plate and the perineal body. A satisfactory mons veneris was created and the labial folds made to cover the vaginal introilus, reducing the continuous disagreeable vaginal secretion.
