Abstract

A technic of anal sphincter repair is described which aids the suturing of cut muscle ends. Skin sutures provide additional holding strength for wound closure rather than placing reliance on muscle sutures alone. Rotation flap principles provide a better and more permanent result than simply pulling tissues together. Anatomic factors in anal continence are discussed. Factors to consider in proper liming of the operation are mentioned.
