Abstract

Radioimmunoassay kits for hCG-B, hLH, and FSH were evaluated for their sensitivity and accuracy by comparing them with the routine laboratory assays. All three kits used modification of the double antibody method with an incubation time of 2 to 3 days. The kits used 125I as the tracer, and 0.1 ng of the labeled hormone was used in every assay tube. The hCG-B kit appeared to be as specific for hCG as the laboratory assay; 30% binding of total counts was obtained with the kit. Scrum values obtained with the hLH and FSH kits correlated very well with the values obtained with the laboratory assays. The hLH and FSH kits bound 41% and 29% of the total counts, respectively. The availability of reliable and sensitive kits for hCG-B, hLH, and FSH now offers the advantages of the radioimmunoassay to any laboratory which has access to a centrifuge and a gamma counter.
