H M HASSON, MD, FACOG

From the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Grant Hospital of Chicago, Cook County Hospital, and Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, Illinois

Abstract

The wing sound, a sterile disposable gynecologic instrument, was used as a uterine measuring device to determine the individual lengths of the cervical canal and endometrial cavity and to assess cervical competence in 460 patients. Variations in cervical and endometrial lengths relative to race, age, parity, and disease were noted. The cervix was incompetent in IS patients. Other observations made arc discussed.
