Abstract
The hemagglulination inhibition antibody test to determine immunity and vaccines arc available for rubella control. Neither are being fully utilized in this country. A program was organized to test college women for immunity anil to determine the feasibility of vaccinating the susceptibles. Five hundred and one women participated in the program and 25.9% were found to be susceptible. One hundred and twelve were safely vaccinated, and 90% successfully seroconverted. Eighty-eight percent were unaware of the test or did not know where to obtain it, while physicians discouraged the other 12% front being tested. The program indicated that this age group had a significant Misecptibility rate, that they could be safely vaccinated, ami that more education about rubella is needed.
