Maternal Mortality Due to Acute Toxemia

LESTER T. HIBBARD, MD, FACOG

From the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center, Los Angeles, California.

In 1957, a Maternal Mortality Committee was formed under the joint sponsorship of the California State Health Department and California Medical Association. In each of the several districts, a Study Group was formed and a written report of each investigation was discussed, evaluated and reviewed. The records of the District II Study Group (Los Angeles County) form the basis for this report.
