Congenital Atresia of the Uterine Cervix

WILLIAM L. GEARY, MD. FACOG and JOHN C. WEED, MD

From the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ochsner Clinic and Ochsner Foundation Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Four cases of congenital cervical atresia are presented. This rare anomaly necessitated multiple surgical procedures in each patient in order to maintain an adequate canal for menstrual egress. No pregnancies have been reported to date with this type of müllerian anomaly. Primary hysterectomy with ovarian conservation is the best plan for future management.
