Von Willebrand's Disease in Pregnancy

Abstract

Thirteen patients with von Willebrand's disease and pregnancy have been described in the English literature. Four additional patients have been seen at the Mayo Clinic. Of these 17 patients, only 1 hemorrhaged during labor and 4 had poslpartum hemorrhage. Three of the 4 patients with poslpartum hemorrhage had low Factor VIII levels at delivery. Treatment with cryoprecipitate is recommended if the Factor VIII level is low at term; if the Factor VIII level is normal, no treatment seems necessary
