TRANSPERITONEAL VESICAL BIVALVE IN REPAIR OF RECURRENT VESICOVAGINAL FISTULA

N. Javadfour, MD, T. John, MD, M R Wilson and Irving M. Bush, MD

From the Department of Urology, Cook County Hospital. The Hektoen Institute for Medical Research, The Chicago Medical School-University of Health Sciences and Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center, Chicago, III 60612

A transperitoneal vesical bivalve technic for the repair of recurrent vesicovaginal fistula is described. Nine patients have been treated successfully with this technic during the past 4 years. Postoperatively, a mild vented suction connected to the suprapubic tube, avoiding a urethral catheter, helps to prevent recurrence of the fistula.
