Abstract
The supernumerary ovary is an exceedingly rare occurrence. The most plausable embryologic explanation for an omental ovary involves germinal ridge transplant. This proposed detachment—reattachment would occur after gonocyte migration from the yolk sac has been complete. Alternative explanations and theories for the supernumerary ovary are discussed. It is surprising that this embryonic rarity is not found more often.
