Abstract
To determine whether routine prenatal chest x-rays were of value, the records of 1239 patients were reviewed retrospectively. Most patients were urban poor; 17 had significant findings. However, if the history or physical examination had been used as the criterion for obtaining a chest x-ray, only 1 patient would not have been discovered. She had benign, noninfectious disease.
