Abstract
During the decade April 1, 1962 to March 31, 1972, over 1400 Rh negative women were given high titer anti-D plasma to prevent isoimmunization after each delivered an Rh positive baby. Of these 1400 women, 240 returned with 1 to 5 subsequent Rh positive pregnancies, for a total of 336. Three sensitizations occurred. Two of the babies did not require treatment but the third died, resulting in a perinatal mortality rate of about 3 per 1000 babies at risk. This form of prophylaxis is safe, effective and economic.
