GUIDELINES FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF PATIENTS WITH OVARIAN ADENOCARCINOMA

M. STEVEN PIVER, MD

From the Department of Gynecology, Roswell Park Memorial Institute, 666 Elm Street, Buffalo, New York 14203.

To date, there have been no clear-cut guidelines for the management of patients with ovarian adenocarcinoma. Recently, several criteria for treatment have evolved that allow one to: a) decide on the appropriate surgery to be performed, b) decide on which patients should receive radiation and the amounts and areas to be irradiated, c) to select those patients who are suitable candidates for chemotherapy, the appropriate drugs to be used and duration of treatment to be carried out.
