Abstract
A 40-year-old female developed mild pleuritic pain and pneumoperitoneum after coitus. The air had entered the peritoneal cavity through a prolapsed uterine tube secondary to vaginal hysterectomy. Pneumoperitoneum after coitus is rarely substantiated as a diagnostic possibility. The usual mild symptomatology should alert the physician and obviate unnecessary laparotomy.
