Abstract

A highly significant increase in the concentration of carbonic anhydrase B isoenzyme in erythrocytes was found during pregnancy. This elevation was determined from the earliest stages of normal pregnancy as well as at delivery (t = 7.2, P < 0.001). In a group of women taking oral contraceptives a similar increase was detected.
