Abstract
Of perinatal deaths from massive aspiration, over a 4-year period, 46% were associated with prolonged gestation without acute obstetric complications. In some patients, prolonged gestation, with or without contributing factors, may be an important cause of fetal hypoxia resulting in massive aspiration.
