Plexiform Tumorlet of the Uterus

Report of a Case

ARTHUR S. PATCHEFSKY, MD

From the Department of Pathology. Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.

Abstract

A 50-year-old white female had a hysterectomy for uterine leiomyomas and the uterus contained an incidentally found 1.2-mm plexiform tumorlet. Eighteen such case reports are tabulated from the literature. The tumorlet is a benign incidental finding in uteri removed for various causes. It has a characteristic plexiform pattern suggesting vascular origin. The differential diagnosis of this lesion is briefly discussed.
