Cervical Incompetence in Multiple Pregnancy

G W McGOWAN, MD, FACOG

From St. Anthony's Hospital, Pendleton, Ore.

Abstract

Only 3 reports of successful cerclages in multiple pregnancy could be found in the literature. Two twin pregnancies in twin mothers with repeated cerclage are here described in detail; both were failures. Data from 90 US and 350 foreign medical schools were solicited by questionnaire. Of 103 replies, 18 reported 43 patients with multiple pregnancy treated, with a success rate of 66%.
