Abstract
Rabbits and infrahuman primates are often used as experimental models in studies of tubal transportation of ova. This study compares the muscular anatomy of the oviductal isthmus in man, M. mulatto, and the rabbit. The isthmic musculature is similar in the three species, specifically with regard to the presence of an inner longitudinal muscle layer in all. In the rabbit, the distal limits of this layer correspond to the site where ovum transport is delayed.
