The incidence of malignant mixed müllerian tumors may be greater than indicated by most reports published up to now. While a very poor prognosis has generally been accepted, with only 26 survivors for 5 years being reported to date, the outlook may be improved by adequate radiation dosage to the pelvic structures. The tendency to metastasize widely outside the primary site is a major factor in the poor tumor control. Seven patients' treatment for this disease and their follow-up are reported. One patient who survived 5 years following radiation therapy alone is noted. One other patient who completed treatment by radiation and operation is still living, free of disease, 17 months later.
