Newborn Methemoglobinemia Following Propitocaine Intrapartum Epidural Block

Abstract

Methemoglobinemia is a well-established complication of propitocaine-induced anesthesia. The first case report of apparent transplacental-induced methemoglobinemia is presented with a suggestion that the newborn may be predisposed to deficient reduction of methemoglobin in the erythrocyte.
