Dystocia Caused by Sacrococcygeal Teratoma

Two Case Reports

MALCOLM R. LITWILLER, MD

From the Departments of Medicine and Obstetrics, F. F. Thompson Memorial Hospital, Canandaigua, NY

Abstract

Two case reports are presented of infants with large sacrococcygeal teratomas obstructing labor after partial vaginal delivery. One child died, but the other survived following trochar aspiration of the cystic mass via abdominal hysterotomy. Proper diagnosis and management of dystocia caused by sacrococcygeal teratoma may save the infant's life.
