Prognosis of Endometrial Carcinoma

HONG-KYU CHEON, MD

From the Department of Gynecology, Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, NY, and Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY

Abstract

Patients with endometrial carcinoma were classified in one of three categories for each factor: histologic differentiation, uterine size, myometriai invasion, cervical involvement, metastasis, and patient age. Each item was given a numerical value, and the sum of the six items for each patient gave a score. From 1950-65 372 patients who were treated for endometrial carcinoma at Roswell Park Memorial Institute were evaluated. The 5-year survival rate was 0 for those with the highest score and 100% for those with the lowest The survival rate for those with in-between scores was regularly and progressively distributed.
