Abstract
Periureteral endometriosis is not often encountered, there being but 62 such case reports prior to the two added now. It is clinically impossible to distinguish cancer from endometriosis in the retroperitoneal and paracervical areas. Even if the diagnosis of such ureter-encircling endometriosis were made, radiation or hormonal treatment does not diminish the periureteral fibrosis; the former especially may worsen the process by further scarring. When such extensive endometriosis is suspected, urographic studies are indicated just as they are in pelvic cancer.
