Abstract
The hypertension that results from interference with the arterial circulation of one or both kidneys is uncommon, but it may represent a rare cause of the hypertensive syndrome seen in pregnant women. The present report describes the sudden appearance of hypertension in a youthful primigravida who had no other sign of preeclampsia; whose diagnostic tests were consistent with, but not diagnostic of, renovascular hypertension; and who was subsequently shown to have a fatal carcinoma of the left kidney.
