Abstract

Comparison of endometrial specimens obtained by suction-curet biopsy, D&C, and hysterectomy in each of 160 patients demonstrated the reliability of the biopsy. In 128 of the 160 patients, identical histologic 'diagnosis was made from all 3 specimens; in 15 patients, the endometrial biopsy could not be done because of cervical stenosis or else it yielded tissue insufficient for diagnosis; and in the remaining 17 patients, the biopsy findings were at variaNC.e with those of the curettage and hysterectomy. When an adequate endometrial biopsy was accomplished, it had a histologic accuracy of 96%.
